Using Multiple Windows
It's possible to surf the internet with more than one instance of your browser going at once. This is especially useful when doing research as one window is often not enough. To evoke another browser window, hit control-n. Cycling through these windows is a case of pressing alt-tab until the desired program appears.
Web Mail
IDL Webmail allows you to check and manage your IDL email address from a web browser. The advantage is that you can check your email from anywhere with an Internet connection. Another advantage is that you can easily remove unwanted email with large attachments without having to wait for a timely download with Outlook Express. To access your Webmail, click on the Webmail option at the top of the IDL Homepage.
Bookmarks
You can bookmark your favourite sites so you don't have to keep typing in their web address each time. To do this at the top of your menu bar you will see 'Favourites' (or 'Bookmark' if you are using Netscape), select this and click on the option 'Add to Favourites'. Any time you want to revisit this site simply click on 'Favourites' & select the name of the site.
